Can I Compost Take-away menus?
(From the Household waste category | No comments yet - start the conversation)While take-away menus will quickly decompose with a little moisture, it’s probably better to recycle them through your paper recycling bin rather than put them in the compost.
Glossy paper, such as that used in menus or magazines, is often coated in plastic or otherwise uses synthetic materials to achieve shinyness.
The inks used on brightly coloured menus can sometimes be toxic too.
If the menus are old school, text on a white background on non-shiny paper, you can compost as you would do any normal paper – but it’s still usually better to recycle them if you can.
